Mobile Websites Increase Google Rankings

Mobile websites are necessary

Mobile websites are vital beacause 50% of all local searches are performed on mobile devices. By 2014, mobile internet use should take over desktop internet use. And at that pace, one can only imagine what is possible five years from now.

Here are 5 reasons why you need to make sure you have mobile websites.

1. Google has a separate index for mobile content.

Not only do they have a separate index for mobile content, but also it is fairly empty. Searching for a theater on your desktop vs. your mobile device will give you totally difference results. Your mobile device is location aware, and so are your Google search results.

2. Your regular website is not going to cut it.

There is a fundamental design difference between a regular website and mobile websites.

On a mobile phone, there is a very limited amount of screen space. If you have ever had to side scroll to view something on a website, you realize how much of an inconvenience it is. This is magnified on a mobile device. Even with the ability to turn the device lengthwise, the resolution is still extremely small. This is a complete turnoff to your visitors.

3. 1/5 of Americans access the mobile web each day.

As stated earlier, this percentage greatly increases every year. If you’re not representing yourself on the mobile web, your competition surely will.

4. Mobile web will overtake the desktop.

Not only will the mobile web inevitably overtake the desktop, but also usage and adoption is growing at a much faster rate than the desktop did. In the future, the vast majority of visitors to your website will be on mobile devices.

5. Mobile customers are expected to spend $14 billion dollars in 2013

Millions of customers feel completely comfortable with purchasing on their mobile devices. And this figure will only continue to grow.
